In response to The Hollywood Reporter’s story that production was halted to pen a new ending, director Christopher McQuarrie tweeted:
"Live, from the set of the #MI5 finale, the 'unknown writer' sends his regards to @thr before cashing his paycheck." "Filming never wrapped. We took a short break to prep the finale properly."
Paramount Pictures has preponed the movie to July 31, 2015.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible 5 stars Tom Cruise as Agent Ethan Hunt, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, and Alec Baldwin.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but you can bet I.M.F (Impossible Missions Force) agent Ethan Hunt (Cruise) chooses to accept another mission that takes him and his team of secret agents around the world to stop an elusive and extremely dangerous villain who poses a global threat.
“Mission: Impossible 4 Ghost Protocol,” directed by Brad Bird, opened in December, 2011 and raked in $700 million worldwide.
