Description:

The Machine is an upcoming 2013-14 British Action-thriller-sci-fi film written and directed by Caradog W. James. The film stars Caity Lotz, Toby Stephens, Sam Hazeldine, Denis Lawson and Pooneh Hajimohammadi. The machine will be released on 21st March, 2014 in the UK and will get a limited release in the US on 25th April, 2014.

Plot:

"Set in the near future and with the world plunged into another cold war; Britain’s Ministry of Defense is on the verge of developing a robotic soldier. This soldier, called The Machine, looks and sounds human, but has the strength, speed, and ruthlessness beyond that of any living person. The project is near completion when a bug in the programming, a side effect of it being too close to human coding, causes the prototype to destroy the lab and everyone in its path in spectacularly violent fashion. Undeterred by this setback, lead scientist Vincent McCarthy enlists the help of an artificial intelligence expert to help him harness the full potential of a truly conscious fighting machine."

Plot 2:

The machine tells the story of Dr. Vincent McCarthy (Toby Stephens). It’s the near-future. A cold war with China has pushed the Western world into a continued economic depression, and building the first intelligent machines has become the new space race. His latest development is AVA (Caity Lotz). McCarthy works for the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense, designing implants for brain-damaged soldiers. He’s a brilliant and driven man seemingly doing noble work — but there’s something darker there pushing him on. There’s also the matter of how well his research is going; there have been accidents along the way, and he’s treading in a particularly grey area of the moral spectrum.

Here is a very thrilling trailer from the Science fiction-thriller 'The Machine' directed by Caradog W. James. The Machine looks fantastic, the artificial intelligence/robot shown in the trailer is Caity Lotz performing the role superbly as AVA. Moreover, it looks like a stylish sci-fi thriller about humanity's Obsolescence. The visual effects look more than good keeping in mind the movie's low budget. But lets hope its not just another B-movie.
