2 States is an upcoming 2014 Indian romantic-comedy film directed by Abhishek Varman based on the 2009 novel of the same name written by Chetan Bhagat. It is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar. The film stars Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles and is is slated to release on 18 April 2014.
PLOT:
"A story about a romantic journey of a culturally opposite couple - Krish Malhotra and Ananya Swaminathan. They meet at the IIM-Ahmedabad College and during the program they fall in love. Complications arise after the program comes to an end and they decide to get married. Krish and Ananya belong to two different states of India. Krish, a North Indian Punjabi boy from Delhi, and Ananya, a Tamilian Brahmin from Chennai. They take a conscious decision; they won't get married until their parents agree. Everything goes downhill when the parents meet. There is a cultural clash and the parents oppose the wedding. To convert their love story into a love marriage, the couple faces a tough battle in front of them. For it is easy to fight and rebel, but much harder to convince. Will Krish and Ananya's love for each other sustain the battles? Will they manage to convince their parents and make it to their wedding?" Budget:

My Review:
Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor will be seen sharing screen space in Dharma Productions next venture 2 States which is directed by Abhishek Varman, 2 States is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel of the same name. If you have read the book then you know exactly what the film is all about. But those who haven’t, well the movie is about a Punjabi boy falling in love with a Tamilian girl and what happens when a marriage between two culturally different families take place.
Coming to the trailer, you get to see Alia’s desi avatar in the video and Arjun’s geeky side. While the Student Of The Year babe looks gorgeous in the Indian attire, the Kapoor lad’s boy-next-door image is impressive. But the best part is the duo’s crackling chemistry. And yes there is a lip-lock between Ms Bhatt and Arjun as well. The two indeed make a great couple…of course onscreen. Wink wink! Besides Alia and Arjun, the movie also stars Amrita Singh, Ronit Roy and Revathy. Amrita as a typical Punjabi mother fits the bill perfectly. The scenes between Singh and Revathy are hilarious. So apart from lot of romance , there are some good comic punches in the video.
The makers seems to have adapted the book as it is on the celluloid but that’s okay coz the end result looks great at least going by the trailer.
